Detox Foods to Include in Your Diet

If you want to lose weight or live a healthier lifestyle, it may be wise to start with a short cleanse just to help you eliminate your cravings for those unhealthy foods you are used to eating. This is also a great way to prepare your body for this major change.

Looking for foods that will work best for a “cleanse” can be quite challenging, not because there are very few foods to choose from but because there are a lot. It can get so confusing with all the hot teas, fresh fruits, and raw vegetables available. For example, green tea is a great diuretic, raw vegetables are great insoluble fibers, and both are great choices for cleanses.

Here are some of our top choices that you can choose from:

  1. Avocado

Avocado gives you mono-unsaturated fatty acids that are healthy for your heart, as well as glutathione that can block absorption of certain fats that may cause oxidative damage. Of course, glutathione is also essential for cleansing your liver pathway.

  1. Broccoli

Broccoli is a cruciferous vegetable or a cross-shaped flower that is known for being a really good antioxidant. Science has proven that if you make broccoli a regular part of your diet, then you are greatly reducing the risk of certain cancers, too.

  1. Fennel

Fennel has a lot of anti-inflammatory chemicals and vitamins, including vitamin C which also has antimicrobial properties. Fennel is rich in fiber but very low in calories, making it an excellent cleanse food choice.

  1. Kale

Kale, like other fresh greens, is an excellent source of glutathione that is crucial for the detoxification of your liver pathway. Additionally, it is an insoluble fiber which aids in getting the gut in motion.

  1. Green Tea

Compared to other kinds of tea, including black, white, and oolong teas (though they are from the same plant) green tea is proven to be richer in antioxidants. Aside from that, the caffeine found in green tea also has a diuretic effect, which can help you a lot if you are bloated because it counteracts water retention.

  1. Garlic and Onion

These members of the allium family that give a pungent flavour to food also contain flavonoids. They stimulate glutathione production. They also have rich immune-boosting and antibacterial properties.

  1. Yogurt

Greek Yogurt, which contains probiotics, provides your body with healthy bacteria that is necessary for fortifying the natural flora in your digestive tract. It also helps boost your body’s immune system.

There are many other foods that are excellent for cleansing. Detoxification is important if you want to achieve a healthier body. Not sure what to do?
