The “White Death” You Unknowingly Consume Daily

We know it tastes good and we all often crave it, but sugar is definitely not something you should include in your daily diet. It may seem that sugar makes you feel good but it’s really doing more harm than good to your body. In fact, consuming sugary foods on a regular basis is among the worst things you can ever do for your health.

Records show that in 1890, when the average person consumed only about 18 pounds of sugar per year, only three people out of 100,000 had diabetes. In comparison, in the year 2012, about 8,000 in 100,000 were diagnosed with diabetes and the number is continuously rising!

Sugar Rush

The idea of sugar addiction is targeted at kids who now consume around 10 times more than they did in 1900. This is often in the form of HFCS or High fructose corn syrup which is the average person’s biggest source of calories. HFCS is highly addictive and the body does not break it down. It is easily absorbed and turns into fat.

Sugar produces a feel-good chemical called dopamine in the brain. People who are addicted to consuming sugar feel like they need it and cutting their sugar intake makes them undergo “withdrawal”. A person who goes “cold turkey” might feel down for a few days but his or her brain will start to produce dopamine on its own. Unfortunately, it is common for people addicted to sugar to feel that the discomfort brought about by the withdrawal is too much that they remain stuck in their addiction.

Sugar and Cancer

Because of the anaerobic respiratory mechanism shown by cancer cells, cancer loves sugar! Whether you are now recovering from a type of cancer like prostate or breast cancer or you are intent on maintaining good health, it is highly recommended that you stay away from brown sugar, white sugar, agave, and artificial sweeteners like aspartame, sucralose, and saccharin. If you are craving for something sweet, opt for a small amount of 100% organic stevia, raw honey, xylitol, coconut sugar, maple syrup, or molasses.

The best thing that you can do to stay healthy is to make sure that you keep track of and control your sugar intake so it won’t harm your body!
