As an informed and health-conscious woman, one of the many things that you should always look out for is any sign of breast cancer. Breast cancer is something that nobody wants to deal with, but if you are facing this big challenge, you want to be able to nip it in the bud. Instead of having to face breast cancer after it has already progressed, it’s better to find out about it early on.
Know the Signs
Each individual’s body has its own ebb and flow. You should be in tune with your body’s personal rhythm as it can help you become more aware of cancer symptoms. It is important that you pay close attention to any and all unusual changes that occur especially within your breast tissue. This is critical to avoiding and detecting breast cancer.
If you have noticed recently that there are some unusual aches in your breast like throbbing, fluctuating discomfort, or pain, discuss it with your healthcare provider at once. A lot of women assume that the only thing they should be on the lookout for is an isolated painful lump. But in truth, breast cancer can also manifest as seed-like tumors that are scattered. They can even progress and spread like tentacles throughout your breast tissue.
Breast cancer often occurs without the classic warning signs like redness and lumps. There are other symptoms that you should look out for:
- Skin irritation
- Dimpling
- Swollen part of a breast (or the entire breast, even when there is no distinct lump felt)
- Nipple pain
- Nipple retraction/inversion
- Scaling, thickening, or just reddening of the nipple or breast skin
- Nipple discharge (not breast milk)
Make sure that you are wary of any patterns of change or unusual symptoms. If something is outside the norm, take note of anything you notice for reference. Sometimes even something seemingly harmless like persistent itching could mean fluid build-up or poor lymph function. It could also mean your body is trying to create new blood vessels for growing breast tumors.
Is Back Pain an Indication of a Breast Tumor?
If you have been suffering from upper back pain that seems to be coming from deep within your bones, it could be an early sign of breast cancer. Chronic back pain that is not relieved by regular stretching, massage, and/or chiropractic care may mean that tumors are forming. However, you should not assume that each bout of pain you feel is an indication of the dreaded disease.
There are instances when tumors are developing in a woman’s breast, they can put pressure on the spine and ribs, causing persistent pain. A woman has to be aware of any change occurring in her neck, upper back, and spinal column, especially if the pain is unusually pronounced.
Nutrient Deficiency Has Something to Do with It
Not getting enough of the necessary nutrients like iodine and vitamin D can increase your risk of developing breast cancer. Most people don’t realize that aside from what they are eating, what they are not eating also has a big impact on their health.
