Am I Overweight? Signs You Need to Lose Pounds Now!

Have you ever had the feeling that you have packed on a lot of weight overnight? Many overweight people confess that they didn’t realize they were getting heavier until someone else pointed it out to them. Sadly, having someone else talk to you about your weight whether it’s out of concern or not is really not a good feeling. The important thing though is that you have finally realized that your weight is not healthy anymore.

When you have too much body fat, it can cause inflammation in various parts of your body and that can lead to more serious health conditions that include cancer, heart disease, and type 2 diabetes.

So how do you know it’s time to start losing weight? Here are some symptoms you should watch out for:

Your snoring can wake the neighbourhood up and you still feel tired in the morning. If you snore really loud and you notice that you rarely get a really good night’s sleep, it can be because of sleep apnea. This is a condition characterized by irregular breathing that disrupts sleep. One cause of sleep apnea? Excess weight.

You feel tired all the time. Excess fat can cause internal inflammation which can make you feel like you are consistently tired. If you have a high BMI and simple chores exhaust you, your weight is probably the culprit.

Your body has tender spots all over. Fatty tissue beneath the skin can get inflamed and feel tender – somewhat similar to bruises. If your BMI is really high and you feel pain in different parts of your body, losing weight can really help.

You have high blood pressure and/or high cholesterol. If these two are higher than they used to be, you should really consider shedding off some pounds. Instead of popping pills to regulate your blood pressure and cholesterol levels, losing weight can effectively bring the numbers down without any side effect.

Your waist line is over 35 inches. Excessive fat in the belly also increases the risk of type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, and heart disease. If your waist circumference is above 35 inches and your BMI is also elevated, it’s really best that you start sizing down.

Your back, hips, and knees hurt often. Because of excess weight, there is also extra pressure on your joints. This can wear down the tissue around the joints and make even the smallest movements uncomfortable or really painful at times.

If you experience any or all of these signs, then it’s clear – it is time to take charge and lose weight to achieve better health.
