Instead of Cow’s Milk, swap for Almond Milk. It’s nutritious and has a mild flavour that’s perfect for cereal, coffee or just drinking on its own. When served cold, you can barely notice the difference!
Instead of Dairy Cream, swap for Coconut Milk. With a thick, creamy texture it’s great for baking, making hearty “cream” soups or adding to shakes. Best of all, coconut milk won’t go sour as quickly as dairy cream.
Instead of Chicken, swap for Tofu. There are so many different textures to choose, ranging from firm to silky smooth. Marinate with all the same spices you would add to chicken. Tofu is a popular and tasty option for healthy stir-fries, soups and stews.
Instead of Beef Burgers, swap for Mushroom Burgers. If you enjoy a firm texture in burgers, you’ll love mushroom burgers. There are so many varieties available in the freezer section of your grocery store. You may also find other beef-like veggie burgers with various options for spices and seasonings to suit your taste.
Instead of Butter, swap for Avocado Oil. The best thing about avocado oil is that it has a very delicate flavour and won’t overpower the other seasonings in your dish. Use it when you want to sauté vegetables, or even drizzle over warm pasta.
Instead of Dairy Cheese, swap for Cashew “cheese”. That’s right, cashews are the new cheese! Cashews can be soaked in water and blended to a creamy texture for baking yummy treats such as “cheesecake” or spreading on your favourite crackers. You can make your own or buy some in the health food section of your grocery store.
